A-115 Ultralight – "The People's Aircraft Project"

With the idea of bringing ‘aviation to the masses’, the startup team of ВЗЛЁТ Design Bureau has designed and currently is working on the production of an affordable single-seat ultralight aircraft A-115. The goal of our startup is to offer sky enthusiasts opportunity to become pilots of a real airplane – inexpensive both to purchase and to operate! The empty weight of the A-115 is 115 kg, in accordance with the rules of FAP 273 such aircraft does not require an airplane certification, and the pilot does not need a pilot's license and aviation medical commission checkup.
A-115 ultralight airplane is designed from the outset as a production aircraft and will be offered as a kit or pre-assembled product. All our inhouse manufacturing processes are developed to produce multiple parts and assemblies in a short time. The goal is to radically shorten the lead time from order to customer shipment.
A-115 is characterized by elaborate details, high strength of individual assemblies as well as the entire structure. Possible loads according to the project are +6/-4g. Similar aircraft that inspired us to create the A-115 are the highly successful Aerolite-103 sold in large numbers in the USA, as well as the elegant Czech Ulm Gryf (not in production anymore). At the same time, our A-115 is not a copy of either, but has been designed and calculated by our design bureau practically from scratch. A great deal of time and effort has been spent on calculating the design in accordance with the formulas of aerodynamics and construction of UL aircraft, a ‘golden mean’ has been derived, which will make the aircraft extremely comfortable and stable in operation. The A-115 will be of great interest to those amateur pilots who decide to change from a paraglider or hang glider to a real aircraft with classic controls.
A-115 has a frame made of duralumin pipes D16T and AD31 (Russian standards), wing and tail plumage made of Dacron fabric (light sailing synthetic semi-rigid fabric), flaperons, closed cockpit, powerful engine with pushing 3-blade propeller, reinforced undercarriage structure, modified reinforced assemblies for quick mounting-dismounting of wing consoles, folding horizontal plumage. Optional installation of a parachute ballistic rescue system will be possible.
Wingspan of the A-115 is 8,5 m, cruising speed 120 km/h, max speed 150 km/h, stall speed 45 km/h, landing speed 55 km/h. The standard propulsion system is a modified version of the domestic engine RMZ-550 (55 hp) with a gear reduction unit of our own production. airplane will be equipped with carbon prop. As an alternative to the petrol propulsion system, an electric propulsion system with 4 electric motors has already been developed and tested.
The A-115 will have removable wings for transport and storage in the garage. Large wheels and well cushioned landing gear will allow the aircraft to be operated off airfields. Skis for snow landings and water floats will be offered at a later date. The aircraft may be of interest for industries such as agricultural chemistry, forestry, short transports of small loads, etc.
As a standard, the A-115 airplane will be available as a kit containing fully illustrated assembly manual and all the necessary standard components, including the propeller drive system. An assembly service will also be offered to the purchaser. In the future, our design bureau will provide support for the operation of the A-115 – maintenance and repair of all A-115 components, as well as prompt shipment of any spare parts to the customers.
